The Probability and Statistical Mechanics seminar is held in Florence.
The seminar started in 2017 with a scheme similar to that of the Mark Kac seminar (Utrecht).
The seminar takes place in a room equipped with a beamer and a small blackboard.
The seminar is mainly intended for researchers in the areas of Probability and Statistical Physics. In particular the hope is to attract young researchers, such as PhD students
and postdocs. The speaker should take into account that the audience will have a general background in mathematics and physics, but no expertise in technical subjects
has to be assumed.
Each event will have two speakers and each speaker will give two 45 minute long lectures. The first lecture will be be introductory and the second one
more advanced. The schedule is the following:
- 11:00 – 11:45 morning speaker introductory lecture
- 11:45 – 12:00 break
- 12:00 – 12:45 morning speaker advanced lecture
- 13:00 – 14:30 lunch
- 14:30 – 15:15 evening speaker introductory lecture
- 15:15 – 15:30 break
- 15:30 – 16:15 evening speaker advanced lecture
